CNN Hero Jackson Kaguri and CEO of One Pencil Per Child (OPPC) Nicolas Meringolo during a strategy session to explore how OPPC can work with pencil companies to provide pencils for children in marginalized communities in Africa. Within many parts of Africa children do not attend school for lack of a single pencil. Mr. Kaguri and his four siblings went to school in Uganda with one-fifth of a pencil each. Under Jackson Kaguri's mentorship CEO Nicolas is leading social change by encouraging corporate social responsibility of pencil corporations to donate pencils to facilitate literacy and education in Africa.
